Peter Mumford  Designer

Peter graduated from Flinders University with Honours in 1974, and after two years at Adelaide University left the world of academia to pursue a career as print maker and designer. A founding member of The Progressive Art Movement and board member of Troupe, he also worked as graphic designer for the South Australian Theatre Company.

Peter's theatre and costume design work began with The Stage Company where he designed Nijinsky, Le Sacrifice du Faune, The Perfectionist, Travelling North, Sorry Sold Out, Gulls, The Case, and Percy and Rose, a co-production with The Melbourne Theatre Company. Peter also designed Paper Walls for the Australian Dance Theatre and Jonathan Taylor's ballet For Ever and Ever at the Festival Theatre for the Adelaide Festival.

Since moving to Melbourne Peter has designed for Arena, Melbourne Workers Theatre, La Mama, Zeal Theatre, Sound Kitchen Theatre and numerous independent productions, most notably the controversial The Essentials, Mechtron, and the critically acclaimed The Torch for The Torch Company.

Peter's graphic and stage design for Don Giovanni is the first time he has worked for Melbourne City Opera.
