Jocelyn Hickey Jocelyn Hickey

Soprano Jocelyn Hickey is the winner of three major Australian singing competitions- The Herald Sun Aria 2004, Opera Foundation Australia's New York Study Award 2005 and The Vienna State Opera Award 2006.

In late 2005 Jocelyn traveled to New York to study with coaches from the Metropolitan Opera before making her International Debut in 2006 at the Wiener Staatsoper as Zweite Blumenmädchen, Gruppe 2 in Parsifal

Sinc e 2001, Jocelyn has been principal artist with Opera Australia's OzOpera. She sang initially with the Schools Company before joining the 2005 national tour of Carmen in the roles of Michaela and Frasquita. Principal roles for other companies include Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, Countess Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro, Musetta in La Bohéme, Madamoiselle Silberklang in Impresario, Messagiera in L'Orfeo, Damigella in L' incoronazione di Poppea, and Johanna in Sweeney Todd.

She sang the role of Laurie for the Australian Premiere of Aaron Copland's The Tender Land for OperaLive.

Jocelyn holds a Bachelor of Classical Music from the Westem Australian Academy of Performing Arts and a Post Graduate Diploma of Opera Studies from Queensland Conservatorium of Music. She attended the Australian National Academy of Music in 1999 as a member of the Advanced Performance Programme
