Gary Rowley Gary Rowley

Gary was born in the U.K and commenced his vocal studies in Tasmania with Penelope Bruce in 1985. In 1989 he completed an arts degree in music at the Victorian College of the Arts studying with Brian Hansford. He has also completed young artist programs with the Victoria State Opera and The Australian Opera. For the past fifteen years Gary has worked as a freelance artist for many of the country's premier companies.

Opera Australia: Hobson in Peter Grimes, Nachum in Fiddler on the Roof, Duke of Verona in Romeo & Juliet, Colline in La Bohéme, Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola, Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream (Edinburgh Festival), High Priest of Dagon in Samson et Dalila, Roo in Summer of the Seventeenth Doll and Leporello in Don Giovanni.

OzOpera: Don Basilio in The Barber of Seville, Monterone in Rigoletto, Trooper O'Grady in Midnite and workshops of Tahourdin's The Tempest and Grabowsky's Love in the Age of Therapy.

: Mr Rochester in the Michael Berkeley/David Malouf Jane Eyreary's concert repertoire includes Handel's Saul, Solomon, Messiah and Israel in Egypt, Orff's Carmina Burana, Bruckner's Te Deum and Mass in F minor, Dvorak's Stabat Mater, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Phillip Glass' 5th Symphony, Haydn's Harmoniemesse, Rossini's Stabat Mater and Petite Messe Sollenelle, the Requiem's of Verdi and Fauré, Vaughan-Williams' 5 Mystical Songs and Bach's St John Passion.

Gary has been nominated for Melbourne Green Room Awards for his work in Greek, The Possessed and Midnite. He also received a Helpmann Award nomination for The Possessed.
