Julia has an honours degree in English Language and Literature from Melbourne University and an Associate Diploma in Opera and Music Theatre from the Victorian College of the Arts. 

She has performed the roles of Despina in Così Fan Tutte, Isphis in Handel's Jephtha and Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, Papagena in Canberra Opera's The Magic Flute and Polly Peachum in The Beggar's Opera.

In 1997 Julia performed Frasquita in Melbourne City Opera's production of Carmen and has since participated in The Maria Callas Story at Melba Hall, as well as performing the role of Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana.
