David Branson Assistant Director

David Branson has acted and directed extensively since 1985, when he was a founding member of Splinters Theatre of Spectacle. Since 1996  he has been Artistic Director of CIA (Culturally Innovative Arts), which he founded with Louise Morris. As an actor in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra, David has performed with Frontline Theatre, Yellow House, La Mama Theatre, Eureka Theatre Company, Entr’acte, Jigsaw Theatre Company, Pure Theatre, Canberra Repertory Theatre, Cake Eaters, and for the Australian National Playwrights Conference in 1998 and 1999.

Some directing highlights include: Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill's The Threepenny Opera ( C I A / STOPERA), Handel's Ariodante (STOPERA), Ribbons of Steel, a large scale multi-artform project to mark the closure of Newcastle's BHP Steelworks, Graham Hendersons'  Quintet and Lally Katz's TV Friends at La Mama.

He most recently directed works by Daniel Keene, Alison Croggon and Christos Tsiolkas for Hobart Fringe.
